Des Moines Family Photographer: Cora, Six Months

Back in November, I met up with little Cora for her six month session. It was the typical mid Autumn day. It started out brisk with a little bit of wind but by the afternoon. Although most of the photos taken were in her aunt's house, the day warmed up just enough for us to go outside so she could enjoy the warm autumn afternoon.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Maddux, Nine Months

Tosha and I are so amazed at how much Maddux develops in three month increments. He started to explore flavors and textures, sweet potatoes, roast beef, pasta noodles, home made banana ice cream and so much more. We are both grateful that he has our palate. He began crawling in July and has been on the go since. It's been tough to take his photos now that he's learned to use those legs of his but seeing him make the connection to point A to point B has been a rewarding experience. In between his nine month session and writing this post, he's accomplished his newest feat, standing up with no sofa, coffee table or wall. Only time will tell when he starts to walk and a new chapter in our lives open.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Sarah, Phet, Elina and Kaedyn

I've been taking Elina and Kaedyn's photos for the last 4 years and one thing I've learned about these kiddos is that they are a very adventurous pair! This makes for a challenging family session so my approach this year when I met with Sarah, Phet, Elina and Kaedyn was to capture the four of them in the most candid way I could... to leave them to their own exploration! Aside from a couple of posed shots, I just let them enjoy the afternoon at The Ledges.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Corrie, Marcus and Sophia

Last month, I had a chance to meet Corrie, Marcus and Sophia at the Rose Garden for their family photos. Corrie and Marcus are both co-owners of 3X Wrestling, which they manage on their own spare time. It's a pretty impressive resume and we had a lot of fun exchanging conversations. Sophia was a very bright and happy little lady and I enjoyed getting to know all three of them through out our photo session.

Des Moines Senior Portrait Photographer: Rachel, Knoxville Class of 2014

Rachel is a senior at Knoxville High School, ready to explore her ambitions at the University of Northern Iowa to pursue a teaching degree. But today, she had a band competition to participate in, to show off her percussion skills.
Today was a really awesome session. It was really cool to talk to her about her future and what she'd been up to. It was also a wild photo day as Rachel insisted having a horse and one of her chickens be a part of her photos. It made for a very fun morning!
I wish the best to Rachel as she follows her dreams.
