Family: Elly and Joe, Clark Tower

The day before I took photos of Elly and Joe, there had been a pretty bad storm that went through central Iowa. I was actually in a tornado warning area and work had shut down for about an hour. Clark Tower in Winterset is quite the drive up a hill. I suppose it's more than a hill but the drive up is beautiful. It's full of trees and would be amazing in the fall, which I think we may be coming back for their fall photos. Well, today was more than a challenge because both Elly and Joe were too excited to go to the zoo afterwards. One thing I made sure to do was engage them in conversation. It worked out really well because I got a lot of good candid moments and very little cheesy smiles!

Luke, Newborn

I took Luke's newborn photos back in May. It was quite the work out to get a moment of silence so the photos you see here are collective of probably fifteen minutes of calm within a two hour timeline. But that could be an exaggeration. There were many great photos from that session that I wanted to post them all.

I couldn't help but to share this one. :)

Brinley, 6 Months

Brinley turned 6 months at the end of April. So in the middle of May, Tosha and I drove 2 hours just to see her smile and to capture her in her little moments. As always, it was fun to catch her expressions. I also took Heidi, Tyson and Brinley's first family photo. There was an overcast, but the humidity was a big challenge. We managed through and as you could tell, it didn't stop us from having a good time.

These are the shoes that never made it to Brinley's feet. They are adorable so I didn't want these to be forgotten.

I believe Brinley is starting to discover and learn about her hands, knees, toes and feet... :)

Elina, Spring 2010

Earlier this week I shot Elina at the West Des Moines City Hall/Public Library. It's been so amazing seeing her change. She's developed a very infectious personality. One that makes you always smile. She is very adamant about doing things her way and is good at making you laugh while doing so.

Elina was so proud of herself here. She found this bench, climbed on it and just parked herself there. I'd have to admit, the black looks really good against her torquoise dress.

I love this photo. Where are you running to Elina!!!

Ashlyn

Ashlyn was shy when I first met her and she was the same the day I took these photos. Eventually she did warm up to the camera and me. However she did call me Kat several times, to which I would reply with a "meow." Of course, she would look at me confused but Ashlyn's parents, Jaime, Colby and I had a good laugh about it. She is a very nice girl and is also very good at following directions. I shot Ashlyn's photos in Valley Junction the same day I shoot Jaime and Colby's engagement photos.
