Des Moines Children Photographer: Cora, 12 Months

I had a lot of fun chasing little miss Cora during her one year photo session. It may be that fact that she's recently discovered what those two little legs of hers could do. Or it could be because this was the first time that we had an outdoor session. Either way, I had a lot of laughs with her as she explored the Demonstration Garden in Urbandale. Although the garden was still a work in progress for the 2014 season, a few botanical installments made a very lovely fairy tale scene for Cora.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Maddux, Nine Months

Tosha and I are so amazed at how much Maddux develops in three month increments. He started to explore flavors and textures, sweet potatoes, roast beef, pasta noodles, home made banana ice cream and so much more. We are both grateful that he has our palate. He began crawling in July and has been on the go since. It's been tough to take his photos now that he's learned to use those legs of his but seeing him make the connection to point A to point B has been a rewarding experience. In between his nine month session and writing this post, he's accomplished his newest feat, standing up with no sofa, coffee table or wall. Only time will tell when he starts to walk and a new chapter in our lives open.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Ashley, Erik, Sebastian and Brynn

Ashley, Erik, Sebastian and Brynn met me on an overcast Saturday in September for a family session. We had originally scheduled for a mid morning shoot but decided to move it up due to some rain forecast for that time. It was an awesome session and surely enough, the rain came shortly after we finished. I'm always excited to meet up with the four of them to get to know a little bit more about what's been going on with their lives.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Tammy, Dan, Ella and Isaac, Summer 2012

In the early part of September I drove down to Marion County Park for a morning family session with Tammy, Dan and their children Ella and Isaac. It was such a nice morning and I think we knew that summer is going by fast as we talked about Tammy's career as a teacher in the Knoxville education system. It was also nice getting to know Ella and Isaac as we wandered through the playful playground discovering glitter and other museumesque structures of the park.

Des Moines Family Photographer: Ashley, Jess, Zakk and Jack, Summer 2012

In early September, I met Ashley and Jess and their two boys Zakk and Jack at Greenwood Park for a family session. I've taken photos of all them as a family and each of the boys individually and it's always a fun time. This year was different because I believe this would have been the first time I didn't make a house visit. Last time Jack was too small to even sit himself up but he sure is mobile now. Zakk is always a good conversationalist and this time was no exception.
