Josie and Kenny // Engagement

Josie and Kenny are good people. You could tell they would do everything for each other. We shot their engagement session at Lake Aquabi, ten minutes south of Indianola. It was a hot October afternoon that suddenly turned brisk.

Danielle and Eean

Danielle and Eean were a lot of fun to shoot. Savan and I met Danielle's wedding party at Elements in Urbandale early in the morning and moved our way towards the Hessen House area before endng up at Snus Hill Winery. It started off like any other summer Saturday, clear skies, hot and humid. Then, suddenly, it rained before the wedding. However, after thirty minutes of hard rain, the clouds cleared away and it ended up to be a beautiful night.

Danielle had all four sisters in her wedding party. These are her three youngest.

And then it rained.

Sarah and Kirk

Sarah and Kirk's wedding ceremony was held at the Fitch Building in the Catch Light Studio space. Savan and I were hired for the reception event and it was on a hot July night! Sarah was born on the Fourth of July and the ceremony was the day after so she was surprised with an American flag birthday cake! It was quite the double celebration.

Heidi and Tyson

Heidi is my fiance's best friend but I was not the official photographer. I was given the privilege to be an apprentice to John Young, their hired professional photographer. I am very honored to have been able to be an understudy for a day as I was just getting to know wedding photography then. It is gestures like these that propells professionalism and stunts elitism. It's the inspired idea of Chase Jarvis that I live by that defines success: helping others to help yourself.

Anyway, not to stray from Heidi and Tyson's wedding photos...
