Wedding: Amber and Scott

I photographed Amber and Scott's wedding in late June. The day started off cool but as the sun hit high noon, the humidity and heat became unbearable. Fortunately, their ceremony was held inside a grand church in Pella. It was a wonderful ceremony. I invited Felix Mathias to help shoot their wedding. He took some great shots as you will see. Amber and Scott are a great looking couple and the connection between them could be written in a story book.

Wedding: Robin and Tony

Robin and Tony's wedding day did not come start with ease. The rain caused the ceremony to move from Robin's parent's land to a church in Attica and later, flooded the road going back to the reception. We had to detour to get out of Attica but after everything that happened, the ceremony and reception went well.

During the ceremony, Robin and Tony incorporated a Wooden Box Ceremony to place a bottle of wine, two glasses and a letter to each other. The basic idea is when times get tough and they forget to love each other, that they go to a separate room and read the letter that the other one wrote. Hopefully this never happens so that on the tenth anniversary, they could open the wooden box and read their letters and enjoy a bottle of wine.

Amber and Scott Engagement

Earlier this month I had a chance to shoot Amber and Scott at the Des Moines East Village. We picked a perfect late sunny Saturday afternoon. They are a great match and it was fun to watch their kinetic attraction. I look forward to filming them on their wedding day.

It was a great time to get Scott to be funny in these quick snap shots. He seems cool in every shot.

Amber loved these black doors and the minute I mentioned them, her eyes lit up like Christmas.

I caught this sweet candid moment on our way to get their second outfit for the session.

Robin and Tony // Engagement

I had a good time shooting Robin and Tony's engagement session. Tony is an Iowa Hawkeye super fan and I being an alumni myself couldn't have asked for a better start than having the Hawkeyes winning their 7th straight game of the 2009 season.
We started off at the Albia Reservoir and then headed our way to the Albia square. The Albia square is full of character and I think it was the perfect place for Robin and Tony's personalities.

Lokhoy and Joel

This was an interesting day for Lokhoy and Joel. This would be the third time they had celebrated their marrige. The initial celebration occurred in Las Vegas and the second in their home town with their family only. Today was in Des Moines, with their friends, families and Laotian/Thaidam community. Wow! I can't imagine putting together one celebration alone!
